A poll conducted for the National Post on the state of education in Canada _1__that 32 percent of Canadians surveyed said that the“most important purpose of education” was “training youth for the work world.” Twenty-three percent said “creating good __2_” was the true purpose of education. Seventeen percent said the purpose of education was“creating inquiring minds,” seven percent said “teaching ethics,” __3__ percent said“creating happy people,”four percent said “teaching religious _4_,”three percent said“producing good parents.”Two percent of those surveyed indicated that education’s main role was“encouraging people to _5_authority.”
