Holiday home When we went on holiday last year to a small town near London, my father knew all the landmarks. He knew that we had to turn right at the big church in the middle of town to find the road that finally led to our holiday house. He knew that there was a supermarket near our holiday house. He knew that to get to the swimming pool all we had to do was just go around the corner from our house and cycle two kilometers. He told us all this before we even got to the town. But the amazing thing was that he had never been to this town before. He knew more details than a map would show. He knew, for example, that the name of the supermarket was Cresco. He informed us that the house next to our holiday home had a red door, cats and at least one child. How did he know all this? He said that he had looked at Google Street View in order to find out what the town was like before deciding that this was a good place to spend the summer holidays. He even knew that there was a golf course and an indoor climbing center in or near the town. We knew that there were bikes at the holiday house so my father checked whether there were bike paths. He said that there were plenty of bike paths and we could reach almost every place without cycling on the roads although, he added, there was not that much traffic.
