In the US some students are given places at college not because they’re very 1 and have passed all the exams, but because they’re good at sport. They play on the college teams, but they also have to do some studying and get some kind of 2 as well. So,just before the big game, the coach for the college team 3 into the changing room, looked at his starplayer and said, “I’m not supposed to let you play since you 4 maths, but we really need you for the game. So, what I have to do is ask you a maths question, and if you get it right, youcan play.” The player agreed, so the coach looked directly into his eyes and asked, “OK, now 5 and tell me the answer to this: What is two plus two?” The player thought very hard for a moment, “Two plus two... um...” he said, then 6 and answered, “Four?” “Did you say four?!” the coach exclaimed, excited that he had given the right answer. Suddenly, 7 players on the team began shouting, “Come on coach, give him another chance!”
