A plainclothes New York City police officer was shot in the face at Tuesday 1. ______ night while pursuing a man at a Brooklyn housing project, but evading life- 2. ______ threatening injuries in what the mayor called a remarkable stroke of good fortune. At Bellevue Hospital Center, doctors removed the bullet from the skull of the officer, Kevin Brennan, 29, a six-year veteran from Long Island.
